Directory Toolkit - Multipurpose Directory and File Utility
Review by on
There are several bits and pieces you are going to like about the Funduc Software-developed application Directory Toolkit. There is also one thing you may not exactly like about this application. Let’s start on a positive note with the bits and pieces you’re going to like about this application.

Starting in a logical progression, the first thing you’re going to like is that getting Directory Toolkit off the web and onto your computer will only take a moment. Since the download weighs in at some 1.8MB, it can’t possibly take long for it to complete, not even if you’re on a less than spectacular internet connection. To my mind, not having to wait a long time for a download to complete is always nice.

Once you have Directory Toolkit on your computer, the next logical step is to install the application. You will like that installing Directory Toolkit is a simple, straightforward process that goes along smoothly. You will also like that Directory Toolkit can be installed on all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. Directory Toolkit works with the old but popular Windows XP, the much avoided Windows Vista, and the latest iteration, Windows 7 (32-bit as well as 64-bit editions).

Once you have Directory Toolkit up and running, you are going to like what it can do for you. Here is what you can expect to get from this application:
- Displays a single or side-by-side directory comparison
- Color coding for similar, different or missing files
- Directory comparisons can be based on dates or a binary file analysis
- Built-in archive functions
- Built-in path synchronize functions
- Copy, move, or rename files while maintaining long names
- Command line and script operations
- Create short scripts on the fly
- Customizable toolbar
- Drag and drop support

Remember I mentioned there is one little thing that you may not like about Directory Toolkit? Well, here’s what that thing is: Directory Toolkit is not freeware; the application is free to try for a period of 60 days.

Pros
  • Fast and easy to use
  • Works with all Windows versions
  • Context sensitive help

Cons
  • Free to try (60-day trial)
